With shouts of "Play Ball!" from two construction workers, the final major piece of steel was fastened in the downtown Harrison Square ballpark. Dozens of dignitaries, contractors and fans lined up to autograph the final 20-foot steel beam Tuesday morning before it was raised and locked in place.

Mayor Tom Henry joined current and former City Council members, economic-development leaders, Harrison Square developers, Fort Wayne Wizards representatives, and members of the public to "top off" the yet-to-be-named downtown baseball stadium under construction. The final 20-foot steel beam, carrying signatures from those at the ceremony, was lifted into the highest point of the structure during a ceremony Tuesday at the stadium site.

In just two weeks over 2,500 team names were submitted in the Fort Wayne Wizards "Re-Name the Team" contest. "We are thrilled with the response we've received from the fans," said Mike Nutter, General Manager. "None of us knew what to expect when we launched the contest two weeks ago. We consider this an overwhelming success."
