With shouts of "Play Ball!" from two construction workers, the final major piece of steel was fastened in the downtown Harrison Square ballpark.
Dozens of dignitaries, contractors and fans lined up to autograph the final 20-foot steel beam Tuesday morning before it was raised and locked in place. |

Mayor Tom Henry joined current and former City Council members, economic-development leaders, Harrison Square developers, Fort Wayne Wizards representatives, and members of the public to "top off" the yet-to-be-named downtown baseball stadium under construction. The final 20-foot steel beam, carrying signatures from those at the ceremony, was lifted into the highest point of the structure during a ceremony Tuesday at the stadium site. |
